True Desire

I want to thank all of you who have supported me and this site for the past several months. It has been a pleasure sharing with you the love of God and this life He gives us.
I must delay providing devotions for the foreseeable future for lack of resources to continue this mission. I almost certainly will be back with you but for now, it’s time to take a pause beginning April 3.

“Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Ps. 37:4)

To delight in the Lord means to “love the Lord with all of your heart and all of your soul and all of your strength and all of your mind.” (Mark 12:30)

This means more than simply knowing about God, but to experience God.

You are moved with love and affection for God; His desires are your desires; His thoughts are your thoughts.

It’s akin to empathy: you see the world through God’s perspective, and you therefore see His absolute, unyielding love for you and all of humanity.

Loving the Lord with all of your strength means seeking God in all things – and knowing that He will likewise reveal Himself in all things.

“In all you do – in word or deed – do for the glory of God.” (Col. 3:17)

When you love the Lord with all of your mind, you bring all of your thoughts back to God, constantly striving to give Him glory.

Realize this doesn’t mean you must become a “Jesus freak” and lose all of your personality, constantly badgering everybody about your love for the Lord (especially because you need not badger anyone with words about how much you love God – it will reveal itself in your actions).

No, what it means is that you’re devoted to God above all else.

You do not avoid obeying Him because it might make you look bad in another social circle. No one else’s opinion matters.

If you please God, it makes no difference whom you displease. But if you displease God, it makes no difference whom you do please.

And if you please God, then all of the desires of your heart will be met – because pleasing God is your heart’s desire.

Amen!
