“Giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints of the light. He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his beloved Son” (Col. 1:12-13)
The Lord has promised that His beloved will share in the inheritance of the saints, which is the abundant life here on Earth, as well as the glorious riches of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Our original sin nature – by the power of darkness – held us captive to sin, binding us to our selfish and destructive ways.
But by the grace of God, we have been rescued from our inevitable doom and granted aristocratic access to the King of Kings and Lord of lords in His heavenly home.
The prosperity we have been promised is not meant to encourage us to sit back and relax, but to enable us to “lead lives worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him as you bear fruit in every good work.” (Col. 1:10)
God desires that we share His good news with any ear that will hear. And whomever God calls, He also equips, providing the strength, vivacity, and tenacity to share His word without fear.
More than your personal possessions and achievements, God cares about the development of your character.
In pursuance of this, He calls you to be patient; He calls you to be strong – to do the things that you least want to do – because, it is in these moments that you are actually able to grow.
People tend to get frustrated when they pray for a certain quality, like patience or kindness, and feel they are being thrust headlong into a situation before they are ready.
Remember: Whomever God calls, He also equips.
You get upset because you think you’re not ready…
But He calls you into the fray because He knows that you are.
