“Our steps are made firm by the Lord, when He delights in our way; though we stumble, we shall not fall headlong, for the Lord holds us by the hand” (Ps. 37:23-24)
Don’t you hate walking on a slippery surface?
It’s not very easy, nor is it very fun.
One wrong twist or turn and all of a sudden your feet are in the air and your back is on the ground!
Life itself is sometimes like that.
One wrong decision, one simple mistake, and your entire world is flipped upside down.
Enough of these unpleasant occurrences and your confidence is shaken beyond belief.
Hesitation, worry, and fear begin to dominate your mind, making life more difficult and your actions awkward.
But there is hope.
The Lord Himself makes your steps firm when you follow His path!
Though we stumble – as happens to everyone sooner or later – we shall not fall flat on our faces, for the Lord holds us by the hand!
Understand: God will do all of this, and more, so long as “He delights in your way.”
This does not mean that you have to live a perfect and sinless life in order to receive guidance and protection from God – but it does mean you must live a Godly life.
When you love God, when you seek God, when you trust God; then He delights in you.
Nothing can separate a life devoted to God – not even one’s own mistakes.
This is not an invitation to open the floodgate and drown yourself in sin; but if you happen to get splashed by the water, God will personally help towel you off.
